Proposed reform of the Italian electricity market
Monday 12 December 2022

The proposal of Confindustria made a contribution to the European debate, which led to the proposal of the new Regulation for the reform of the electricity markets, suggesting a path of progressive change in the organisation of the Italian electricity market through: the construction of a new market platform for the development of renewable production capable of 'separating' the value of renewable technology from the opportunity costs of producing electricity from fossil fuels; the creation of a direct market for renewable energy from producer to consumer capable of exploiting all the ancillary cost elements to make demand profiles compatible with production profiles.
This in-depth work on the topic was coordinated by the technical offices of Confindustria with representatives of Future ElectricityIndustrial Consumers - Assocarta, Assofond, Assomet, Assovetro, Confindustria Ceramica, Consorzi Energia, Federacciai, Federbeton, Federchimica - and the ANIE Federation using the consulting company - chosen by the parties - AFRY. The study was also attended by Terna.
